32nd annual Central Coast Wine Classic
Schedule for August 25-27 now available
The Thirty-Second Annual Wine Classic, August 25-27, 2017, returns to its roots, so to speak, by presenting its Fine Food & Fine Wine activities in the Edna and Arroyo Grande Valley Wine Countries. This does not suggest or indicate that other California viticultural areas represented by the Wine Classic Family of Vintners, whose unique terroirs manifest the highest quality of wines that the world has to offer, will not be represented. Therefore you may expect to rub elbows with, drink the wines of, and take home the Auction Lots representing wines from special vintners from the Napa Valley, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties and Santa Barbara County, even though you will do so while experiencing South San Luis Obispo County’s exquisite microclimates and terroirs.
We will enjoy two Vintner Dinners hosted by each of the aforementioned fine winemaker gatherings on Friday evening, the former at Talley Vineyards & Winery in the Arroyo Grande Valley, presented by Chef Brian Collins, and the latter at Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa, our Host Hotel, at Pismo Beach or Shell Beach, depending on which direction you may be leaning at the time, presented by Executive Chef Jacob Moss. The Rare & Fine Wine Lifestyle Auction Preview, Super Silent Auction and Live Auction commence on Saturday morning at 10AM and run throughout the day until approximately 4PM. During that time at Both Auctions, you will experience and have the opportunity to garner and take home from an array of Special Wine Classic Auction Lots, such as Etched & Hand-Painted Large Format Bottles as impressive and substantives as Nine Liter Salmanazars (A Full Case of wine in One Bottle!) which will be extracted from the Wine Classic Cellar and offered for your potential bidding reward. You will find extremely rare bottles in the Live Auction from Italy, France, Spain and Australia, and Rare Wines of California as well, plus Unique Lifestyle offerings Within and Outside of the United States.
Our Superb Family of Chefs, Michael Hutchings, Rick Manson and Frank Ostini from the Iconic Hitching Post in Buellton will present Culinary Creations that will be ideal matches for an array of white and red wines, and we will celebrate our Chef Family’s expertise and the long-time relationships we have encouraged and engendered over the years with these remarkable Chef Friends.
The Auctions will transpire in an extremely unique setting, the ACI Jet Airplane Hangar at the San Luis Obispo Airport, where the Private Jets will be in the company of truly Exotic Private Automobiles, including Enzo, 365GTB4 Daytona and 599GTB Ferrari, a concours 356SC Porsche and a Bugatti 16.4 Veyron. Who knows? A McLaren may make the Kinetic Art Form Scene!
Sunday’s Departure Brunch at Dolphin Bay will feature Champagne from the Wine Classic and Caviar offered for our edification by our Dear Friend, Graham Gaspard of Black River Caviar, both a fitting denouement to a grand weekend’s festivities.
By the way, Speaking of festivities, the entire weekend will be a Celebration of Archie McLaren’s 75th Birthday! That is a significant evolution for a Party Boy! We will spare you the details. How did he last this long with his overly indulgent lifestyle? Perhaps he has some suggestions. This was also a quasi- Historic Weekend on the part of the Wine Classic, as it is eclipsing 32 Years headed towards the Magic Number of 33, also a significant evolutionary process. Two propitious happenings at the same venue! Wow! Enjoy to the fullest…
